About Us

The UPPER OTTAWA VALLEY MEDICAL RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE (UOVMRC) serves as a Community-Based catalyst Group to increase the availability and delivery of Primary Health Care Services to Individuals & Families in:

1)       Pembroke

2)    Petawawa

3)       Laurentian Valley

4)       Eganville & The Bonnechere Valley

5)       North Algona Wilberforce

6)       Algonquins of Pikwakanagan

7)   Whitewater Region Township

and to a lesser extent and as required, to other communities presently served by the Pembroke Regional Hospital

 


The UOVMRC will fulfill its mandate by:

(i)                   fostering a broad-based community partnership committed to the attainment of this mandate;

(ii)                 championing the development of a range of delivery options for primary health care services for individuals and families of the communities as described within the mandate

(iii)                developing a dynamic family physician/health practitioner recruitment & retention strategy and program for the component communities;

(iv)               working collaboratively with the local family physician, the Pembroke Regional Hospital, local municipalities, local corporations and other community agencies and health delivery groups in these recruitment and retention initiatives;

(v)                 working with the various stakeholders to creatively establish ongoing financial stability at appropriate levels to achieve the mandate;

(vi)               ensuring appropriate human resource forecasting processes are in place to accurately assess present and future Family Physician and related primary care skills requirements;

(vii)              reviewing and reporting to the various stakeholders and communities on recruitment priorities, progress and overall effectiveness of the committee’s initiatives.

(viii)            Servicing as the catalyst and representative signatory for ll appropriate government sponsored funding and specialized grand programs related to this recruitment activity.
